St. Patrick's Day Parade

Today we announced in class that the Central Bands will not be participating in the St. Patrick's Day Parade this year.  It was a tough decision that has been discussed over the last 3 weeks with superintendents, principals, parents, and band directors.  We've monitored the weather forecasts with several sources and the high for the day should be 17-20 degrees not factoring in a wind chill.  With the length of time we require our students to be there (3 hours), we feel it is not safe at that temperature for that duration of time.  Student safety is our number one priority.  John Glenn, Saginaw High, and Western will not be participating this year either.

While we are sad not to be a part of this wonderful Bay City tradition (my grandfather Les Arndt was the parade marshal in 1977!) you can still come out and celebrate the day at the annual Band Pancake Breakfast.  The breakfast is from 8:00-12:00 and at 10:00 one lucky student will be able to throw a pie in the face of Central Principal Tim Marciniak.  All students who have not turned in their unsold cards or money can turn them in Sunday morning at the ticket table.

Hopefully next year we will be debating on whether or not to wear summer uniforms.
