2015 BCB SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM RULES
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
• Eligibility:
o Students in the Bay County School system, grades 9-12.
o Students in grades 9-12 that are children or dependents of Bay Concert Band members.
• Students must submit an audition with a complete piece, or movement of a longer composition.
• The selected piece should take 3-10 minutes to perform.
• Scholarship winners will be invited to rehearse and play as a section member with the BCB for the Spring Concert, but this will not be required for the award.
• Winners will receive a scholarship of up to $500 to be used for summer music study. Students may also use the award toward private lessons or the purchase or upgrade of an instrument.
• Payment of all awards will be made by Bay Concert Band to the provider of the services; payments cannot be made directly to the student.
• Applications will be accepted from December 3, 2014 until February 17, 2015.
AUDITION GUIDELINES:
• Auditions should be in the form of recorded media:
o Video is highly preferred, but audio only will be accepted. (Note 1).
o Video can be submitted by uploading to YouTube to an unpublished URL. (Note 2)
• The audition piece does not need to be memorized, but must be played on a band instrument (wind or percussion).
• Playing with accompaniment is strongly encouraged. (Note 3)
• Complete the accompanying form and submit with the recording or link. (electronic is preferred)
• A live audition opportunity or assistance in making a recording can be arranged by contacting the Director of Education and Scholarships.
• The BCB board may contact the student to obtain further information, or to arrange for a live interview or audition as part of the selection process.
Winners will be announced at the BCB March 3, 2015 Winter Concert, and will be contacted at least one week prior to the concert date.
Note 1: Contact the BCB Director of Education and Scholarships (email preferred) to arrange to send or deliver using portable media (DVD, flash drive etc.) or if no recording equipment is available to the student. Audio-only will be acceptable if approved by the Director of Education and Scholarships.

Note 3: If arranging an accompanist presents a hardship, contact the BCB Director of Education and Scholarships to see if arrangements can be made for an accompanist or for auditioning without one.
