Midland Marching Showcase

The Midland Showcase is tomorrow evening. The bus will be leaving at 4:30, students will need to be in full uniform by 4:30 in order to load the buses. If students plan on staying after school the boosters will be providing pizza for those kids but we do encourage students to go home after school and then come back around 4:00.
The showcase is at the Midland Stadium located at 1301 Eastlawn Dr, Midland, MI (Midland High School). There is a $5 entrance charge and I suggest you get there by 5:30 if you would like to get a seat. No concessions will be sold at the event so students will need to eat dinner before they load the bus. The bands begin performing at 5:55 with Central scheduled to perform at 8:00. We should be back around 10:30.
It is expected that all students ride the bus to Midland unless they have an athletic game or practice. Those students will need to let me know they will not be riding the bus there in writing by 2:30 on Wednesday. (just a reminder that band classes will not be meeting tomorrow because of PSAT testing).  Parents that are attending are welcome to take their child home at the end of the showcase, again I will just need it in writing so I am not waiting in Midland looking for those students.  Students riding the bus will need to turn their uniforms in at the end of the evening while students that are going home with their parents will need to have their uniform turned in by the start of band class on Thursday.
This is not a competition, it is a chance for band students from all over the area to showcase their hard work during the season and to support everyone’s band program.

Alma Jazz Festival

Our Jazz Festival trip is tomorrow to Alma College. Students need to come down to the band room AFTER 1st hour. We will be leaving at 9:15 and stopping at the Midland Mall at 10:00 for lunch, please remember to bring money. We are performing at 1:40 and 2:00 and the awards ceremony/concert is at 4:00. We cannot get a bus to pick us up until 5:45 from Alma so that puts our arrival back at Central around 7pm. Students need to wear purple, black and/or white. If they don’t have those colors just dress up like you did for the concert on Monday.

Parents are welcome to go watch our performance at Alma, if you would like to take your child home from Alma I just need a written note.

  • Is open to anyone in aged 13 through 21.
  • Teaches everything they need to know for the show.  No experience necessary.
  • First meeting is October 28th, 7:00pmSt. Garbriel's Church, 1492 Midland Road (corner of Midland Road and Eleven Mile Roads.

Upcoming Events

Tonight is the powderpuff football game and homecoming bonfire.  Only volunteers are needed for tonight at 6:15.

Tuesday, October 11 we will have our regular evening rehearsal from 6:30-9:00 in the stadium.

Wednesday, October 12 is the Midland Marching Showcase.  Students need to be at Central by 4:00 (with homework already completed).  The bus will leave between 4:30-4:45. The showcase begins at 6:00, parents are welcome to attend, it is $5 for adults and $3 for non-performing students.  They do not sell concessions at this event so students will need to eat dinner prior to arriving at school at 4:00. If you would like to take your child after the showcase you may, I need a written note that you will be taking them.  They are still responsible for turning their uniform in that evening, many students that leave with their parents just give their uniform to a friend who is riding the bus to turn in for them. We should arrive back between 10:00-10:30.

Friday, October 14 is the homecoming parade and football game. Students are welcome to stay after school on that day, they need to be in full uniform by 4:10 at that time we will walk down to the market for the parade at 5:00.  The band boosters feed the students dinner after the parade. We will then march our “Sounds of Seattle” show before the football game begins and then perform our regular pre-game show.

Monday, October 17, Monday evening rehearsal 6:30-9:00

Friday, October 22 is the Western Central football game.  We do perform during pre-game and halftime out at Western. More details will come later this week!

Tuesday, October 25 is Band-O-Rama, 7:00pm at HANDY this year. Jazz Band students need to be there at 6:30 while marching band members do not need to be there until 7:00.  We will wear our Sounds of Seattle shirts and jeans.

The football team is having a great year, if they record after the Western game is 6-3 they will be headed to the playoffs, if the record is 5-4 there is a possibility of making the playoffs based on points.  If a playoff game is away we will attend and play in the stands as a pep band and we do expect all students to be there.  If a playoff game is home we will be doing our normal pre-game and halftime stuff.

Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00 in the band room will be the jazz bands first concert of the year. Jazz students will need to be ready to perform by 6:45, they will need to dress up for this concert.

If you have not signed up for Remind101 text 81010 and in the message @bccband to receive text message updates.
