Friday, November 30, 2012 at 03:25PM I apologize for confusion on the dates of the concert. Our winter concert and cookie walk will be Tuesday, December 11 at 7:00pm and the Snow Day make up will be the 12th. The Handy Middle School band concert is on the 13th.

Friday, November 9, 2012 at 06:15PM The jazz dinner will take place on Wednesday, November 14. Dinner will begin at 6:30 and the concert portion will begin between 7:00 and 7:15. Tickets are $10 and all money and unsold tickets are due on Tuesday. The menu will be lasagna, breadsticks, salad, dessert, and beverages.
Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11:15AM The bus leaves at 4:45, students may take their uniform home after school today if they are getting their own ride to the game.
Raincoats will be issued to students in class today, they are a requirement for the game tonight.
Students providing their own transportation need to report to the marching band practice field at Western at 5:10, it is in the back of the school near the tennis courts.
We will rehearse with Western and then take a small break.
Uniforms will be due on Monday, October 22 by 3:15 pm.
Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 03:20PM Codes and passwords were mailed out yesterday. Many of you may have received them already. My grades will be updated and completely accurate by Wednesday evening. If you see some strange grades in there or "E's please disregard everything until Wednesday evening.

Friday, September 14, 2012 at 11:57AM It's always tough to make a decision like this. Some people are more comfortable grieving alone, or with just close family while others are pulled together and look for comfort amongst many people. In being respectful to everyone I feel it is most appropriate tonight to have volunteers only (this will not be a graded performance). Senior Parent Night will be rescheduled for October 12. All the band siblings and friends that were scheduled to perform during halftime tonight will be invited for the October 5th game instead of tonight.
For pre-game the band will play the Alma Mater in concert arcs and then cadence to a tunnel. Stephanie Wenglikowski will sing the Star Spangled Banner.
The band will not be performing at halftime, we have planned something special in honor of Mr. Karoly. The band will sit in our usual place and perform during the game.
For those students who would like to be a part of this evening please arrive at the band room at 6:00. There will be no uniform for tonight.
Please know that there are counselors available at CHS all day if anyone would like to come and speak with someone.

Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 10:52PM Tonight the Central High family has lost a great teacher, Mr. Pete Karoly. School will be canceled for Friday, September 14th. The football game will go on as scheduled. The band's role in the evening is undecided at this point (11pm). A decision will be made and posted by 11am Friday morning. Senior Band Parent night will be rescheduled for a later football game. Please check back here for more details.
Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 06:44PM We are very excited to include some younger talent in our marching band show. The Central Band is doing a collection of viral hits this year and one of the pieces we are doing is based on the video from the band “OK GO” and their song “This Too Shall Pass”. The video has members from the Notre Dame Marching Band and many children with streamers. Each week we are inviting a different group from around Bay City to participate with us. That’s where we would like to extend the invitation to your youngster to participate in our halftime show this year. Their participation is very simple and does not require any more practice than a simple game of follow the leader.
Monday, September 10, 2012 at 06:49AM Friday, September 14, 2012, is when your senior will be recognized prior to the start of the football game. The senior band members will be introduced, along with their parents/guardians, and you will be invited to join them on the field.

Denise VanWert has volunteered to organize SMART card sales this year-THANK YOU Denise! Sales begin today and end on 10/31/12. Each SMART card costs $20. $5 of each card sold goes into the respective student's account. There are MANY great deals in this years card. Shari's, Chili's, Harvey's, McDonald's are only a few.
Denise plans to be available at each home football game. She can also be reached by calling her cell 989-297-8141. Please leave a message if she's not able to answer your call ;)

Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 09:37PM Students need to wear their purple band polo, tennis shoes, and khaki shorts (long pants are fine also). No hats are to be worn when we are performing on the field but sunglasses are acceptable. Report time is 5:45 in front of the band room, ready to warm-up. The game will get done between 9:00-10:00, students are dismissed in front of the band room.
Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 09:34PM We will be having a dress rehearsal for the first varsity football game during the JV home game on that Wednesday. Students need to wear their "Going Viral" tee-shirts and tennis shoes. Your pants just need to match your shirt, jeans, khakis, purple & gold plaid, as long as it matches it will work.
Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 09:27PM Rehearsal from 9:00-12:00 has been canceled, registration will be taking place at that time. All band sophomores can show up around 9:00 OR 11:00 to take care of their registration that is scheduled for 1:00. They will not go at 1:00.
We will have a rehearsal in the stands at the stadium from 1:00-3:00 on Thursday. We need to learn what we are going to do during the game! Sandals are okay for this rehearsal.

Freshmen already paid for their shoes with the cost of band camp, a few other students have paid but even if you didn't and you need new shoes order them and I will track you down for the $25!
Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 09:13PM Any student that plans on keeping the same uniform as last year and didn't make it to fittings Tuesday night can stay after practice on Wednesday at 3:00 to try on their uniform from last year.
Any student needing "new" uniform parts will have the chance to sign up for a time slot (sign up on Wednesday and Thursday rehearsals) for Monday, August 27 4:00-8:00 to be fitted. That would be all new members and veterans not taking the same uniform. A few people have already spoken to me about being out of town on that Monday, we will do fittings for those students during the first week of school in class.
If any alterations need to be made the uniform will be sent with the student and you are responsible for alterations. NO CUTTING THE MATERIAL, if something needs to be hemmed fold it under as needed and then stitch it. NO IRON ON HEMMING GLUE, that would be just as bad as cutting it.
